Washington, DC Wedding – Kristen and Amelia

When Kristen contacted me about being the photographer for her wedding, I was super excited.  I met Kristen through NOVA Rugby a few years earlier.  I had since stopped playing (which still upsets me), so I never got to play with Amelia.  That’s a total bummer because she is one of the nicest people I have ever met.  When I first met with both of them about the wedding, I was really excited, mostly because I could see that they were SO happy.  They told me they were getting married on the National Mall right by the Jefferson Memorial, and that it was going to be a small ceremony with just family and close friends.  I couldn’t stop talking about their wedding for weeks!

Unfortunately, I was unable to shoot the wedding because I am pregnant with twins and on bedrest.  Thankfully Debi of Debi Parker Photography and Julia Devine came through and were able to fill in for me.  Debi and Julia got some great shots, and I could tell that I really missed an amazing day.

I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to be there for you guys!  Here are some of my favorite images from the day:

Thank you so much to Amelia and Kristen for coming to me and for trusting me even though I couldn’t be there myself, and thanks to Debi and Julia for doing such an awesome job filling in!

Autumn and Fredrik were married in February at Cabell’s Mill in Fairfax.  The wedding was absolutely gorgeous.  They had a small ceremony on the back patio, followed by a reception indoors.  The details of this wedding were amazing – every last thing was taken care of (mostly by family members!) and everything was just so perfect.  They had hot drinks in the room downstairs while guests were waiting for the ceremony to start, including Glögg, of course.  The ceremony was followed by a lively reception.  You could tell that every last person in attendance was truly there for Autumn and Fredrik and really cared about the couple.  This is a tight knit family that really supports each other and it was just an honor to witness the entire thing.

While the details of the wedding were impressive, the couple’s story is even more so.  I don’t think I can do their story justice, which is why I chose to instead post a slideshow with this song.  The song on this slideshow is by Autumn’s very talented sister Heather, who performed this song at the reception as her toast to the couple (which happened to put me and everyone else in the room in tears).

I was waiting to make this blog post until after I had delivered photos and a DVD to the bride and groom, because I wanted them to see the slideshow first.

Thank you to Debi Parker Keating for working with me!

Thank you to Heather Mae Foard for allowing me to use her beautiful music.

Outer Banks Vacation and Maia’s Wedding

My good friend Maia got married the first week of August in the Outer Banks.  We decided to make a week of it and take a family vacation.  My mom came down with us, and my brother Brian flew up from Orlando.  Brian and Mom had never been to the Outer Banks before, and it was really fun to have a family vacation together (plus a few friends also staying in the house).

Calvin LOVED the sand, but wasn’t too sure about the water.

I took this picture (and a few others) with my mom’s little point and shoot.  I didn’t want to lug my camera down to the beach, and I think her camera did a pretty decent job once I had it on manual.

Maia and Sean got married on a Friday.  I was NOT the hired photographer – just a guest – but I did take my camera and tried to get some good shots.  The wedding was beautiful – on the beach at sunset – and the reception was at the Saltaire House, which was also gorgeous.  I didn’t take my camera to the reception, but here are a few of my favorites from the wedding.

We had an awesome time at the wedding – thanks Maia and Sean!
